Hugo Chavez gives Obama a book

It seems that Hugo Chavez has his own book club like Oprah. The Venezuela leader gave the book titled Open veins of Latin America.  Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez walked over to Obama and handed him a book, in Spanish.

A lot of people were asking “What is the book that Hugo Chavez gave to Obama?”

The book, Las Venas Abiertas de America Latina (The Open Veins of Latin America) by Eduardo Galeano is described by an unidentified Chilean delegate, as ‘an academic book that is the basis for the 60s-era `dependency theory’ that Latin America depends on the North,” according to the White House media pool report.

Does this mean better relations with the Venezulean President and the country he dictates? Is there a bigger meaning behind the book that they depend on North America for better trade and economic diplomacy?  Who knows with Hugo Chavez he has been major thorn in North America in the past and has flip flopped on many stances with between the different Americas.

Obama’s response to the gift: ”I thought it was one of Chávez’s books,” he said. ”I was going to give him one of mine.” The event began with Obama seated at the head of a U-shaped table. Chilean President Michelle Bachelet sat to his right. Chávez was at the far end of the table, on Obama’s left.

America Summit the book Hugo Chavez gave to Obama

Some say the Democratic Party is the closest party to socialism and now we are seeming to befriend socialist and communist countries to build better diplomacy.  I don’t know whether this is a good thing or bad. The book does not tread lightly on the United States.

I do know that Cuban Cigars would be nice for America!  Anyway, I am posting this as the Latest trend of the day that has sent book sales for this book on Amazon to go out the roof.   I am suprised that it was still in stock after news hit on CNN.

Anyway it should be interesting to see if gas prices drop if we open trade and Venzuela decides to export us some oil.
